The Ruby Port Wine is a type of Port Wines like the Tawny Port Wine and White Port Wine. To make this types of red wine, the process is to maintain the fruit flavour and the red colour of the wine. These wines, on contrary of Tawny Port Wines which age in casks, age on the bottle.

Types of Ruby Wines

This types of wines can have several categories.You have the Ruby, the Reserve, Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) and the Vintage. The Vintage are considered the best ruby wines but LBV are also very good port wines.

Ruby Reserve Port

This wine is made from the selection of the best wines of each year, which are combined to produce a strong, fruity flavoured and intense young wine.

Late Bottled Vintage Port

This Ruby Wine is made from a wine from one year, selected of its high quality. It is aged in cask for a period between four to six years and then bottled. Some can age in the bottle several more years before drinking.

Vintage Port

Considered by some the best port, this port wine is made from grapes of the same year and is bottled two to three years after. It normally ages on the bottle for ten to fifty years, but it can be drunk practically in any period.
